London Trust integrates CAMHS care

Kingston and Richmond CAMHS join South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust.

South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLStG) has welcomed Kingston and Richmond Tier 2 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) following their transfer from Achieving for Children.

The move follows an independent review of local mental health provision and extensive feedback from children, young people and families, which recommended a single provider for both Tier 2 and Tier 3 CAMHS across the two boroughs.

The transfer aims to provide a more seamless, coordinated and consistent experience for young people and their families. It also brings Kingston and Richmond in line with existing arrangements in Merton, Sutton and Wandsworth, ensuring equitable access to high-quality support across south west London.

The change supports national priorities set out in the NHS Long Term Plan, which calls for strengthened and integrated mental health services for children and young people.

Dr Joel Khor, Clinical director for CAMHS at SWLStG, said: “This transition marks a significant step forward in how we support the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in Kingston and Richmond. By bringing services under one provider, we can offer more joined-up care, reduce duplication, and ensure families experience a smoother journey from referral through to treatment. We’re committed to making this change as seamless as possible for staff and local families and will continue to listen and learn from them in the coming months.”

All open cases and referrals have automatically transferred to SWLStG, with no need for re-referral. Referrals will continue to be made via the Single Point of Access (SPA), including for 16- and 17-year-olds who wish to self-refer.

Neurodevelopmental assessments for autism and ADHD will now be delivered through the Trust’s Neurodevelopmental Assessment Hub at Springfield University Hospital, with appointments held at Woodroofe House (Tolworth Hospital), Livingstone House (Teddington), Twickenham Civic Centre, or Moor Lane (Chessington).

SWLStG has confirmed secure data transfer arrangements and written directly to families to explain the transition.
