Polar (N.E.) Ltd
WORKING IN THE MENTAL HEALTHCARE SECTOR
The mental healthcare sector is a very specialised one, requiring the highest working practice standards as well as products that often have to perform to significantly higher levels than in any other construction sector.
Polar has developed over the last seven years, after extensive research, development and testing in conjunction with individual clients and Kawneer, a comprehensive range of anti-ligature windows, many of which are in successful use across secure mental health facilities throughout the UK.
There are three key window types within this specialist anti-ligature range: the Tyne Secure, Humber Secure and Wansbeck Secure and we continue to develop products and options within these ranges as we work with clients.
Between them these innovative units offer a choice of internal or external horizontal sliding sash with a flush internal face, and multi-position double shoot bolt single key locking, including side hung mesh sash or secure removable mesh system for safe glass cleaning. Each frame exceeds the maximum break-out/break-in requirements for medium secure and has additional features to enable specification to individual requirements. Polar has worked to develop these options with several public sector partners including healthcare trusts, architects, specifiers and construction companies.
This is a first-class range of windows surpassing all required standards, and, more importantly, able to be tailored to fit particular customer challenges. This has surprised some clients who have previously come up against a general industry reticence to 'tailor to fit', and we would be delighted to talk to you if you have a specific requirement that may vary from 'the norm'.
All windows in the Polar anti-ligature range offer maximum safety and security, while at the same time maximising natural light and providing ventilation as required, along with a welcoming and calming environment. All are built to withstand severe and sustained attack from inside or outside.
