The Movastop from Primera Life is a fullheight safety rebate ‘slim enough to fit even the narrowest of door frames’, and built from aluminium for strength, which the manufacturer says ‘will not warp or twist, and doesn’t need painting’.
The company said: “The surface-mount, removable doorstop has the benefit of both being conventional in appearance, and fully addressing the issue of privacy and dignity. Primarily designed for use on anti-barricade, double action doors, the Movastop is robust, and is thus suitable for use in challenging behaviour mental healthcare environments.” At just 38 mm wide the product is ‘particularly suitable for applications where frame space is limited’, and is a non-handed, universal stock item.
Primera Life added: “When locked, the Movastop is firmly held in position by five concealed metal hooks, and secured by a Life-Line key-controlled mechanism. Much consideration was given to the design to ensure rapid removal from the door frame in a barricade scenario.” Facilitating this removal – which Primera Life says is possible in under seven seconds – is ‘a unique lever mechanism designed to force the doorstop down and away from the frame regardless of any pressure being applied on the inside of the door by the service-user’. The same lever mechanism is used to re-align the doorstop when refitting.
Typical fitting time is 30-35 minutes – much of the installation is surface-mount. The doorstop requires a minimum gap between door and frame of just 2 mm which, ‘in the majority of applications’, will prevent the need for lengthy frame preparation.
