Multitone Electronics has installed its EkoTek staff protection and patient alert system at The Retreat, a charitable, not-forprofit specialist mental healthcare provider in York, which offers services for people with complex and challenging needs.
Dave Pearce, the facility’s maintenance supervisor, explained: “We needed a new pager system to support our critical emergency response functions. The old system relied on pagers notified via a telephone, which were not quick enough in summoning help in emergency scenarios.
The Retreat is an old building with very thick walls, so installing a wired call system would have been highly disruptive, and ultimately more expensive.” The Multitone EkoTek solution provides an on-site two-way wireless staff protection system and patient alert that raises an alarm from the touch of a button, or lack of response from the user. With location details provided with the alarm, assistance is directed straight to the person in need.
Dave Pearce added: “As a batterypowered mesh wireless system, we could install EkoTek quickly across the site, while still being able to operate the old legacy system, which greatly reduced the installation’s impact. We had previous experience of working with the system and felt confident with it, it offers low running costs, and we were impressed with the professional support, back-up, advice, and training, that Multitone offers.”
