Manufacturer of anti-barricade doorsets, vision panels, and hardware for mental healthcare use, the Kingsway Group, says its recently established Design Review Panel (‘DRP’) – comprising individuals with a variety of expertise from clinical, estates and facilities, capital projects, and nursing backgrounds – plays a valuable part by ‘critiquing its designs’ prior to a product’s commercial launch.
The company said: “Through collaborative innovation we can ensure that every new product is perfected for the desired environment, which explains why we have introduced a series of external panellists to aid our development journey. With extensive experience from a variety of backgrounds, our Design Review Panel enables us to make every product and solution work for everyone – from service-users to installers.”
Ron Moody, former Health & Safety manager at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, a member of the first Design Review Panel this April (it focused on Kingsway’s Switch doorset solution), said: “The day was a great success, and we gained excellent feedback and ideas. It was a valuable opportunity for us to see and access the product and make sure it was designed so as to be fit-for-purpose.”
