MTX to complete biggest project to date this year

After what has been an incredibly difficult time for global businesses, Modern Methods of Construction healthcare building specialist, MTX Contracts, is celebrating a decade of year-on-year growth, with 2021 revenues in excess of £90 million.

This year will also see MTX complete a further flagship project – its construction of a five-storey Critical Care Unit at The John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford is the largest project in the company’s history. The scheme follows the completion of Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital project last year, one of its most efficient builds, with what would have typically been a three-year project cut to just one, allowing the acute facility to serve as the Nightingale Hospital for the region.

David Hartley, MTX’s MD, said: “It’s no surprise that the pandemic saw hardships for multiple businesses. However, in a year that saw increased demand across the healthcare industry, and pressures placed on funding and speed of delivery, Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) have provided a fast-track solution with minimal disruption. We have been incredibly lucky that through flexible working we have not had to furlough any of our team during the pandemic, and, more recently, we’ve expanded our workforce to meet the increased demand for the construction of healthcare facilities. We’ve also managed to achieve an accident frequency rate of 0.01 per cent, which is exceptionally low for the industry.”

Wherever possible MTX looks to share its success with others. Seventy-eight per cent of its turnover is spent with local supply chain partners, and 12% per cent of all profits reinvested into community initiatives. David Hartley added: “We’re honoured to support those we employ in our local communities, and last year we were recognised in The Investors in People 2020 Gold Awards. The projects we work on provide so much value to the communities in which they operate, and we want to reflect that in the work we do and play our role in both the future of our sector and our region.

“We’re constantly on the lookout for ways in which we can support others, and we hope our next decade brings with it as much success. We couldn’t have achieved what we have without the incredible hard work of all our employees and key service-providers.”

MTX is a privately-owned, Cheshire-based, construction and engineering company ‘specialising in innovative Modern Methods of Construction to deliver fast-track building solutions to the NHS and the private healthcare sectors throughout the UK’.

The company says its fast-track construction methods reduce time on site ‘by up to 60%’.
